This week, as we dig into the emphasized words of our prayer for pastors, we uncover a substantial amount of what the Spirit can do for us that we cannot do for ourselves.

Today we examine questions and objections to the command to "Go".

 

Matthew 28

16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

This week in our study of prayer we have a model of how to pray for your pastor or other leadership. As we go through our prayer we are finding that pastors are quite complex based on what we need to be praying over them.

Our series has bridged from Luke to the book Acts. This week, we look at Acts 1:1, and the "cast" of the Kingdom story going forward.

"In my first book I told you, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began to do and teach until the day he was taken up to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit." Acts 1:1 NLT

Mark 11:24, Part Two: This week we are looking more at the what, how, and when of prayer with a special focus on relationship.

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere..." Acts 1:8a NLT

This week we are looking at Mark 11:24 and the power of an expectant prayer. Are you hoping or praying?

In Luke 24, we're focusing in on three encounters with the resurrected Jesus and the "Aha!" moments that opened their eyes and changed their responses to the risen King.

From Luke 24:

Then they remembered that he had said this. v.8

Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. v.31b

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. v.45

Today's message looks at several facets of the cross from Luke 23 for us to take time to pause and reflect upon; may we never take its significance and the King's sacrifice and for granted.

 

"We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:41-43 NLT
